The latest track from Camp 8 is a dark, folk-inspired track reminiscent of the likes of Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver. ‘Hurt’ kicks off with cinematic strings, distant percussion and a looping vocal before dipping towards a jazzy piano accompaniment and Reuben Apirana’s isolated, vulnerable voice. A solitary bass note fades in beneath, rumbling away as the track jumps towards its thick, anthemic chorus. Considering this is their first 2020 track, we can be sure to expect some more delightfully doom-laden releases as the year progresses. It’s an impressive effort from one of Australia’s finest upcoming talents. -Dan Peeke
